Numa experiência inédita, Joshua Bell, um dos mais famosos violinistas do mundo, tocou incógnito, durante 45 minutos, numa estação de metrô de Washington D.C., de manhã, na hora do rush, despertando pouca ou nenhuma atenção. A iniciativa foi do jornal The Washington Post, com a idéia de lançar um debate sobre arte, beleza e contexto. Ninguém reparou também que o violinista tocava com um Stradivarius de 1713, que vale 3,5 milhões de dólares. Três dias antes, Bell tinha tocado no Symphony Hall de Boston, onde os melhores lugares custam 100 dólares.

In a novel experience, Joshua Bell, one of the most famous violin players in the world, played anonymously, for 45 minutes, in a subway station in Washington D.C., in the morning rush hour, raising little or no attention at all. The initiative was of the newspaper The Washington Post, with the idea of provoking a debate about art, beauty and context. Nobody realized that he was playing with a 1713 Stradivarius worth 3.5 million dollars. Three days before, Bell had played in the Boston Symphony Hall, where the best seats sell for 100 dollars.
